Mattie Helen Sloan was born on April 26, 1912 in Tyrone, OK to parents William B Sloan and Margaret Traxtell. She married George Washington Flowers (1905–1932) on July 11, 1929 in Wolfe City, Hunt, TX. The couple had three children together including a son, James Benton Flowers (1932-1980). George passed away three years after they got married, and she later re married to Alva Hall.
