George Smibert of Melbourne Australia was born on January 17, 1840 in South Leith, Midlothian County, Scotland United Kingdom to Hay (Robertson) Smibert and Alexander Smibert. He had siblings Charlotte Smibert and James Smibert. He married Sarah Jane (Corbett) Smibert on April 27, 1876 in Newport, City of Hobsons Bay County, Victoria Australia, and had children Isabel Hay (Smibert) Moore, George Smibert, Kate Millicent Smibert, Alexander Alfred Smibert, Hubert Ivan Smibert, Cedric Olaf Smibert, Edna Jeanne (Smibert) Robinson, Alan Leigh Smibert, and Ewen Kelvin Smibert. George Smibert died at age 59 years old on November 8, 1899 in Apollo Bay.
