Goldie was born in Ohio and spent the first third of her life there. Goldie’s Mom, Mabel was divorced from her dad who died when she was 16. She also lost her only brother when she was in her 40’s. His name was Russel, same as her Father. She was married for more than 50 years to my Dad, Fred F. Jursik, a Navy veteran. They were married in Ohio. I’ve seen pictures from their wedding and it was a big one. She called my Dad “Pete” which comes from a nickname. She had my brother, Fred while they lived in Ohio. Fred became ill and required some surgery. A doctor recommended that they move to Florida as the salt water and heat would help him heal. That is how I came to be born here in Florida in 1962. Mom got her Master’s degree and started to work at Horace Mann Jr High School in the 70’s. She was very smart, good with money, always kind to animals, and a great mom and grandmother. She enjoyed poker and gambling. She was a beautiful lady with jet black hair, olive skin, and dark eyes. She had a pretty singing voice and played piano.
