Henry Churchill King

I've recovered an old photograph album from the late 1800's including faculty, staff, and students from Oberlin College which includes a photograph of Professor KING. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's or 1890's with Professor KING likely in his 30's at the time it was taken and identified as a Professor of Math. Most of the photographs, like this one was taken by the Pfeifer Studio from Columbus, OH who probably came to take all the photographs at the Oberlin campus. We have determined that this is a photograph of Henry Churchill KING and have gathered the following information regarding Henry and his family:

Henry Churchill KING was b. 18 Sept 1858 in Hillsdale, MI to parents Henry Jarvis KING (1823-1890) and Sarah Marsh LEE (1826-1892). Henry was one of 8 children born to this couple including Almira Frances; Sumner Jarvis; David Hanchett; Charles Lee; Leonard Jarvis; Henry Churchill; Eliza “Lizzie” Woodward; and Alvin Lewis KING, all born between 1847 and 1864. Henry married Julia Marana COATES (1858-1939) of Brecksville, OH on 7 Jul 1882 in Cuyahoga Co., OH and they had four children including Harold Lee; Phillip or Phillipp Coates; Donald Storrs; and Edgar Weld KING, all born between 1883 and 1893. Henry was the President of Oberlin College from 1902 through 1927 and he died 27 Feb 1934 in Oberlin, OH and is buried in the Westwood Cemetery in Oberlin.
