179th Regiment was organized at Camp Chase, Ohio in September 1864 to serve one year. It moved to Nashville, TN., arriving on the 8th of October, and was placed on duty at that post. It was assigned to the Second Brigade, Fourth Division, Twentieth Army Corps, and was present at the battle of Nashville, December 15 an 16, 1864. The One Hundred and Seventy-ninth remained on duty at Nashville until the 17th of June, 1865, when it was mustered out in accordance with orders from the War Department.
What a fantastic doc! My GG grandfather and his father served in the Ohio Infantry as well. 186th, company F. Can you order these?
