On the back of the picture postcard is written in Hugh's handwriting:

4 yrs in Johnston's
army - 9th Ark Reg. Co. G

Resident of Milton community since 1871.
Note: Milton is in Lamar County Texas and Hugh joined the CSA in Union County Arkansas.
