Idell Foreman King
Katherine Idell (Foreman) King was born to Frank Foreman (1908 - 1982) and Videll Frazier Foreman (1909 - 1968). She had siblings James Franklin Foreman, Sr., Francis Foreman, and two more sisters. Idell Foreman married Albert King (1913 - 2003), a veteran of World War II, on November 1, 1950, in Polk Florida, and they had four children: Gladys Loreen, Gloria Jean, Johnnie King and another daughter. In 1959, the King family was living in Lakeland, Florida and Albert was a janitor for the City Health & Welfare Department. While having four children themselves, the couple fostered over 100 children - probably because of their connection with the Health and Welfare Department in Polk County. The Florida Department of Health is in charge of adoption programs, foster care, as well as numerous family support programs. Idell was known as "Mama" to all of her foster children. Staying in Polk County for the rest of her life, she died there at the age of 73, after a full and loving life.
