J.A. Kimble
I've "rescued" an old photograph belonging to the KIMBLE Family that was taken at the Catterlin Studio in Salem, Oregon. Order instructions for a 16x20 version of the photograph are noted on the back along with the name "Mr. J. A. KIMBLE of Traver, California". The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with the man in the photograph likely in his 40’s at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I believe that I’ve been able to identify J. A. KIMBLE as John “James” Alexander KIMBLE b. Aug 1833 in New York and died 18 Apr 1924 in Dinuba, CA.

He was married to Lucy Coleman MOORSE (1840-1920) and had two children, Ella b. 1860 in VA; and Frank Alexander KIMBLE (b. 1882 in Kansas-d. 14 Jan 1953 in San Joaquin, CA).

Census records provide the following information:

1900 census of Kaweah, CA:

James A. KIMBLE, age 66, born Aug 1833, married 43 years, born NY, parents born NY, a Farmer
Ella KIMBLE, dau, age 40, born May 1860, born VA, parents born NY, a Farmer
Frank KIMBLE, son, age 17, born Aug 1882, born KS, parents born NY, a Farm Laborer

I am hoping to locate someone from this KIMBLE Family so that the photograph can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me.

Thanks,
Shelley
