Joe Edmond Duke

Jessie Evelyn (Duke) Brast was born on August 19, 1924 in Texas United States to Emma D (Little) Duke and William Jesse Duke, and had siblings Jefferson Harrison Duke, William Alec Duke Sr., Minnie Lee (Duke) Jordan, Louis Ingram Duke, Emma Sue (Duke) Ford, Bertie Lou (Duke) Watson, Jeannie Ethel (Duke) Kennett, and Joe Edmond Duke. Jessie Brast died at age 24 years old on September 17, 1948 in Houston, Harris County.

Uncle Joe was our favorite uncle on the Duke side of our family! He was funny & sweet which made me adore him. He would tell us that "I wanted to marry Mary "(our mother) Mama would say"Joe you were just a little boy" Uncle Joe said" you could have waited for me!" He was the best cook &always came to get me to stay at his house when we came to Houston. Mama said"You can go but don't ask for anything!" So we stopped at the store & grocery stores & finally he said"Mary said you couldn't ask for anything not that I couldn't buy you anything!," So he bought lots of stuff which I didn't ask for but he thought I would like!
