John Dhonau was my dad. My biggest regret is that I never asked more questions. Too wrapped up in my own world to realize how much I would regret not asking him things that were important to him..like how did he meet mom, where did they go on their first date, what was his first car, did he lose any friends in the Korean War, was he scared.I wished I paid closer attention to what really matters...family. Not the family arguments, it’s not what we could or couldn’t ( mostly couldn’t) buy. It was the little talks, the little things he tried to teach me in his own way. Our family has had its ups and downs but at the end of the day I am proud to be a Dhonau.
