Louisa married her first cousin Jonathan Charles Cooper in 1882 and had three children, two of whom died young. Jonathan died in 1887 at the age of only 29, and she went to live with her brother in law John Cooper, at Charles Hall, Ringshall, Suffolk. In 1903 she married widower Harry William Thorpe and in 1908 they had a son Stanley Walter Thorpe, half-brother to Will Cooper.
