Robert Levi Berry was the son of Frank Archibald Berry and Frances Marian Harmon. He had siblings Ruby Ethel Berry (1894-1978), Irene E. Berry (1897-), Laura A Berry (1899-1981), Roger Colby Berry (1900-1961), Gladys Helen Berry (1902-1987), Ira Crockett Berry (1909-1956), and Frances Emma Berry (1913-2000).
He was born on May 27, 1907 in Lynn, MA and grew up there. As an adult, he worked as a truck driver in Lynn, Massachusetts.
In 1929, he married Mildred Margaret Phelps (1909–1995) in Lynn, MA and they had children including Jean Berry (1930-2020), Robert Levi Berry Jr. (1931-2008), Roberta Kingsbury Berry (1935-2007), Frank Allen Berry (1936-1954), Allan G. Berry Sr. (1940-2013), Alfred Amos Berry (1940-1943), and Arlene "Cookie" Gladys Berry (1952-2010).
Robert Berry passed away on June 12, 1988 in Peabody, MA and is buried at the Vine Lake Cemetery in Medfield, MA.
Mildred's father Frederick Winsor Phelps (1877-1947) was born in Winchester Massachusetts as were both his parents Francis Henry Phelps (1840-1877) and Esther Antoinette Hall (1846-1938).
Mildred's mother Melissa Cross Davenport (1874-1910) was born in Newburyport Massachusetts as was her father Edward Little Davenport (1838-1884). Melissa's mother Sophronia Angelina Cross (1837-1916) was born in Ipswich Massachusetts, as were both of her parents - Cpt. John Dudley Cross Esq (1813-1879) and Lydia Caldwell Lord (1813-1887).

I am 2nd generation San Jose and have seen a lot of changes in the area while growing up. We used to be known as the "Valley of Heart's Delight" (because the Valley was covered with orchards and there were many canneries to process the food grown here, which shipped all over the US) - now we have adopted the nickname "Capital of Silicon Valley" and Apple, Ebay, Adobe, Netflix, Facebook, and many more tech companies are within a few miles of my current home in San Jose (including AncientFaces). From a small town of 25,000, we have grown to 1 million plus. And when you add in all of the communities surrounding us (for instance, Saratoga, where I attended high school, living a block from our previous Mayor), we are truly one of the big cities in the US. I am so very proud of my hometown.
