Missing Boy Drowned
A postmortem examination on eight-year-old Patrick William Coad, of Kingsville Street, Kingsville, who was found Sunday floating in the sea near South Werribee beach, 20 miles from his home, revealed that he died from drowning.

Patrick disappeared from his home 16 hours earlier. His body was naked when found.
He had a broken hip. Police believe that he may have fallen from a 15 ft cliff on to the rocks near where his body was found.

Police are anxious to interview a man in his late 30's and driving a cream late model car who was seen talking to the boy near his home about 6:30pm on Saturday.

The boy's clothing is missing despite an Intensive search by homicide detectives and Footscray police.

Patrick William Coad
Patrick William Coad was born in 1950 in Williamstown, Australia to Mary Isabel Finlayson Coad and Robert James Coad. He had siblings Valerie Anne (Coad) Walker, James Coad, and Carmel Joy Coad. He was abducted within 100 meters of his house and was last seen talking to a man who sat in his car and appeared to be asking Patrick for directions. Patrick was found drowned on South Werribee Beach the next morning on October 11, 1958. His body was found naked, washed up on the retaining rocks at the South Werribee by a young family visiting the beach. The Coroners report stated that Patrick's body showed that he had a broken hip and extensive sea lice damage. News papers at that date show little information. Police never found the person who was a man according to an eyewitness. See Missing Boy Drowned. Patrick Coad was buried in October of 1958 in the Footscray cemetery in Footscay, Australia.
