My Dad, Marc William Johnson b. 5-21-1912 d. 2000 Young man, I'd guess 12 to 14 by the looks of his face, shirt, and tie.

This is such a cool photo to have of my Dad, Marc William Johnson, b. 1912. I'd guess he was somewhere around 12 or 13 years old. I asked him once, why his name was spelled with a c on the end instead of a k. He said he saw a sign that said TRADE MARK when he was young and ran home to his Mom to ask if she was going to trade him off. Great story, and he was a good story teller. Anyway, that was supposed to be how it came about that the spelling of his name became Marc. I like it. And my Grandson has Marc as a middle name, spelled that way, even though his Father's name is Mark. FUN! I love it that our family uses middle names to honor past generations. Me and my daughter both have the middle name Elizabeth to honor my Dad's Mother, Elizabeth Susan Sanger. He was quite close to her and the first time I ever saw my Father cry was after his Mother died in 1962. Life's experiences are good teachers. I sure was surprised since I had never heard him cry before. We are all bonded together by our human needs...thank goodness!
