Myrtle Pierce Murray
I have an old studio photograph of Myrtle MURRAY taken at the A. M. Rothchild’s Studio in Chicago, IL. Myrtle is pictured with a young child, likely her son Wallace P. MURRAY. The photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900’s with the boy appearing to be about 6-8 years old and his mother in her 30’s or 40’s. The address 576 E. 48th St. Chicago, IL is also written along with her name on the back and appears to have been a gift to “Mrs. FULLER”.

Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this family:

Wallace Pierce MURRY was b. 20 Oct 1896 in Chicago, IL to Wilson R. MURRAY (1869-1961) and Myrtle Allice or Alice PIERCE (1874-1966) who were married 5 Oct 1895 in Wheeler, SD. Wallace married Clara Louise LUNN (1899-1989) and they had two children including Gene Louis or Lewis MURRAY (1921-2012) and Robert Allen MURRAY (1929-1997). Wallace died in 1953 and is buried in the Craig Cemetery in Craig, NE.

His mother Myrtle was b. 8 May 1874 in Plainview, MN to parents Hiram “Hy” Ira PIERCE (1847-1938, born in Wisconsin) and Sarah Kathryn or Katherine “Kate” JOLLY (1843-1934, born in Ohio). Myrtle was one of four children born to this couple including Myrtle Allice or Alice; Earl Edwin or Elwin; Katherine “Kate” or “Kittie” or “Katie” Ethlyn; and Hugh Clarence PIERCE, all born between 1874 and 1884. Myrtle and her husband Wilson MURRAY were living in Chicago, IL during the 1900 census. Myrtle died 1 or 15 Sept 1966 in Craig or Oakland, NE and is buried in the same Craig Cemetery in Craig, NE.

I’d like to get the photograph to a family member and would appreciate you contacting me at your earliest convenience regarding the photograph and this family.

Thanks,
Shelley
