Ray Lofton Dudley was my paternal grandfather. He was the head of both Gulf Publishing and Gulf Printing companies which he was instrumental in starting. His background was journalism and, before meeting my grandmother, he rode with Pancho Villa to document events in the West. With the help of my grandmother and his half brother, Tom Nelson and others, he established an informational publishing and printing company to serve the upcoming oil and gas industry in the southwestern US. As the oil and gas industry grew, so did his business. It eventually became two distinct companies and expanded to Oklahoma.
Although I was very young when he passed, I remember him as being a happy person. I remember his laugh and his warmth.
