I purchased this photo off eBay. Checking the names on FamilySearch.org, I believe they were born 1/27/1901 in Sandusky, Ohio. Their parents were William and Alice (Pearson) WAGSTAFF.
Bought on eBay, this photo of 1901 Ohio twins is adorable. When they were born, about 1 in every 50 births were twins. Now, one of every 30 births are twins!

It makes me sad when family members die or cannot be found and their very very personal belongings, such as these wonderful family photos, aren't united with the living members. I hope a relative living can be found and reunited with the photo. Beautiful picture of twins!
Looks to me also. Fertility drugs these days increase the occurrence of twins , although most are fraternal I think. My father and uncle (and their aunts were identical).
My mom had fraternal twins in '38, a boy & girl. They lived a very short time. My aunt was pregnant with fraternal twins girls. She lost one of them & the other turned out fine. My niece's daughter had twin fraternal boys. I'm sure there are more, these are the only ones I know of. None had fertility treatments.
there is a theory in anthropology that this is "ovum insurance". humans used to twin more often to insure that at least one child made it to reproductive adulthood.
I have a picture looks like that of my Grandma and her twin brother i need to find it here is another picture of them i think it was 1910 there mother was a twin also !
