Rev. McDaniel (1823-188) was a circuit preacher in the old United Brethren Church. He was born in Lawrence Co, OH to Caleb and Martha (Williams) McDaniel and settled in Licking Co, OH. He married Sarah Rife and fathered five children. His grandparents were Henry and Hannah (Bryan) McDaniel, Jr., Henry being a Revolutionary War soldier and pioneer of Gallia Co, OH.
My grandmother, Cassandra (nee Rodgers) McDaniel, Redmon, Illinois was a member of the United Brethern Church there. Her husband was Oscar Lyman McDaniel.

My research of the McDaniel family goes back to 1804 when my Great-Great-Grandfather Josiah McDaniel (born 1804 in Randolph County, North Carolina)married Miriam Swofford (Swafford). He moved to Edgar County, Illinois somtime later.
