Robert Bruce Hutton
Actor, Director, Screenwriter. Born Robert Bruce Winne, his father was a hardware merchant, Robert was the cousin of Woolworth heiress Barbara Hutton. He attended the private boarding school Blair Academy in New Jersey and experienced acting in stock productions, after he founded his interest in acting. Hutton marked his motion picture debut during World War II and appeared in such films as "Destination Tokyo" (1943), "Hollywood Canteen" (1944) and "Too Young to Know" (1945). During the 1960s, he became associated with Science Fiction and Horror pictures including "The Slime People" (1961), which he starred and directed. He perhaps will be remembered for the British pictures "The Vulture" (1966), a memorable role as 'Dr. Curtis Temple' in "They Came from Beyond Space" (1967) and "The Torture Garden" (1967). He wrote the screenplay for the film "Persecution" (1974). Hutton suffered a severe back injury in a fall during the 1980s.
