Rufus Parrott and Elizabeth Ann Lewis Parrott were my great grandparents. Rufus was a preacher for 40 years and a member of the Secret Order of Red Men.
Rufus was born in 1833 in Red Hill, Marshall County, AL. He married Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Lewis, June 21, 1857 in Marshall Co., AL. She was born 1838 in Altus, OK. Both are buried in Sypes Cemetery, Cleburne Co., ARK. Rufus was a school teacher, then a traveling preacher. They are my Dad's great grandparents and he was a preacher too.
I'm an avid genealogist from the Adirondacks of upstate New York. Most of my ancestors have their roots in New England and migrated slightly west. The names are: ROSS, DAGGETT, BURCH, WELLS, DUELL, MCCONNELL, DEWITT, DELARM, OVITT, HONEYWELL, TERBUSH, and a few more I could name.
