He married Alma Cockburn on January 7, 1950, and they were married until Alma's death on October 7, 1954. They had a child Terrence Joseph Searle. He married Dulcie May Hennock Searle on January 21, 1956 in greenthorpe, New South Wales, and they were married until Ross' death on December 8, 1982.
