Shirley Fay Dawson was born on February 10, 1929 in Lumberton Mississippi to David and Alva Ruth Dawson. She married Havard McLemore in 1948 and moved to St. Louis, Missouri. She worked as a nurse at Koch Hospital in St. Louis for many years until her retirement in the 1980's.
She entered into her second life on July 15, 2006 from complications of diabetes and renal failure and is interred at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband Havard, daughter Alanda Nanette Foster, son James and grandson Demarcus Henderson. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Ruth Brown and sons Havard Jr., Larry Doby and George Hammond, as well as a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
