Steger Piano, Illinois 1965
A Steger piano in Illinois at Christmas, 1965. Back before the invention of the radio, the Steger Piano Factory, located in Steger, Illinois near Chicago Heights and about 30 miles south of the Chicago downtown Loop advertised itself as the "worlds largest" piano factory. It was instrumental in luring my grandfather, Robert Reinhold Klawitter from Europe in the early 1890's to work as a tishler there. Woodworker, Cabinetmaker, piano maker.
Date & Place: in Near Steger, Cook County, Illinois United States of America
