Walter Edgar Tufts was born October 6, 1877 in Westbrook, Maine. Parents were Samuel F. and Frances Tufts. In 1918 on his WWI Draft Application, Walter was working for the B&M Railroad in New Hampshire. Walter was from an old New England family, his ancestor being Peter Tufts, born 1617 in Norfolk, England. Peter immigrated to America in 1638, and was credited with building the "Peter Tufts (Cradock) House" in Medford, Mass., the oldest all-brick home in America
