William Caulfield Obituary

William Caulfield was born on May 27th, 1903 to John T Caulfield (1866-1920) and Katherine Millier Caulfield (1863-1929). He had ten siblings, including Ellen, John, Sarah, Mamie, George, Edna, Camilla, Stella, Lottie, and a twin brother Amos Caulfield. William never married, and when asked why, he responded that his mother had told him that "sharing a bed was unsanitary". Throughout their lives, William and Amos remained close and lived together until Amos passed away just a few months before William. On February 16, 1942, William registered for the World War II draft card for young men. He was 38 years old, weighed 122 lbs, was 5 ft 3 in, had a light complexion, hazel eyes, and brown hair. He worked for Edward Yoch and his next of kin was his brother Amos, who lived at the same address. William had a scar on his chin. In the 1950 US federal census, William was 47 years old and living with his brother Amos in Belleville, IL. William worked as a stone mounter in a stone foundry.
