He married my mother, Dorothy Reid when I was 5, from her former marriage. My grandparents had custody of me. At age 11 I was turned over to my mother and him. Life was hell from then on. The worst of it was him. He never left me alone through high school after they moved to Solon Ohio. He had a daughter with my mother when I was 11. He began molesting me and threatening to make life more miserable if I told my mother. I finally did tell her and he listened hiding behind a door. He told her I was lying and she believed him. When I graduated high school I married someone I had dated just to get away from them. For years I was in touch with my mother and he died after I was remarried and had two children. I stayed in contact with my mother after he died. My sister, now grown and married lived in Ohio too. She would not speak to me or communicate. I asked my mother why and she said "BECAUSE YOU WERE LYING ABOUT ELMO." That did it and I never spoke to her again nor her daughter. I only wish I had reported him but back in the 50's there was not much information about such a problem and I kept it to myself. He said if I told they would get divorced and life would be miserable. I have never forgotten what he did. I a 81 now. I am Nancy Radon Goodenow, Dorothy's daughter.
