Summary

The name Agront is originally from Corsica France. my grand Father Manuel Agront Vega explained that in the early 1900 two brothers immigrated to Puerto Rico in search of a new life. They settled in Isabella Puerto Rico. His father Doroteo Agront had several children. Growing up extremely poor.
he decided to teach himself how to read and write Spanish, math and several trades in order to make living. He became a self taught carpenter Architect. ( Puerto Ricans were not allowed to go to the few schools available. the pay they got in the sugar field was 2 reales =(12 & a half cents Spanish currency at the time. The Spaniard who were in charge believed the peasants would not know how to handle larger sums of money. School at that time was optional since any abled body person could work in the sugar cane fields in order to help the family survive. He never commented much on his father 's educational history or why he wasn't taught French? however given the strict Puerto Rican culture culture kids "did not" ask "embarrassing questions of their elders. he did stressed they did have daily bible readings day and night by order of his father. the head of the house
