Ogidan gave rise to many females and Awobotu was only male child among those children.
According to many Ilusin born and bread historians; it was disclosed that Ogidan was the first king to be recognize in Ilusin town. said by (Mr. Ahmed Awobotu)

Awobotu also had some related cousins, brothers, sisters, and aunt and some of which were Adesanya, Ogundile, Ogunbameru among others.
Because Ogidan was in search of male child then, that was the reason God Almighty gave him a male child named Awobotu. and he recalled that God saved his life, lives of others and properties during when they ran away from Ikorodu to Ilusin due to Brittan encountered and his challenges with british then. Him and his blood brother ran away from Ikorodu. Although his brother ran to Awoyaya town. Said by Mr. Ahmed Awobotu
So, been appreciable, he named his only son Awobotu meaning (AWO) we were saved during the journey "JOURNEY MERCY".

Awobotu was the only son of Ogidan(aso oloko).
Ogidan was the founder and ancient father of ILUSIN (Ilushin) town of Ijebu kingdom.
According to some historians; they said Ogidan origin was traced to Ikorodu town.
Awobotu had an originated meaning from Old ijebu dialect to described the name as AWOBOTU( meaning: Merciful journey; Safety travel or Healthy trip).
