Summary

Origin is France, they moved to Nova Scotia, Canada. The British Ruled at that time approximately 1650. British demanded that the Acadians (That's what they were called) serve the British Crown, and fight on their side in the war against their enemies. The Acadians refused as they were Catholic and informed Britain that they only served the Lord and not the Crown. Britain began controlling the people as if they were their slaves. Eventually Britain realized they would not change the Acadians minds, so about 1755 they began loading the Acadians on prison ships and sending them to far lands and separating family members as much as possible. 10s of thousands died of starvation on the ships, many ships went down during storms. Most ships could carry 1500 people, but Britain was forcing 3000 and more on the ships. We are descendants of the only Babineaux that miraculously made it to Louisiana, his name was Charles Louis Babineaux, he was my 6th Great Grandfather. There is a very interesting memorial in St. Martinville, La.
