Rosa (Giolito) Balestrero was born in Vinchio Italy to Bartolomeo Giolito (1877-1969) and Domenica (Briccola) Giolito (1879-1925) and had two sisters Madalena (1898-1980) and Maria Giolito (1900-1970), and a brother Luigi Giolito (1908-1931).
Rosa immigrated with her family into the United States of America in New York New York on January 21st 1919, and they took residence in Neptune Monmouth New Jersey. By 1925 the family was living in Queens New York, and on August 6th 1932 Rosa married Christopher Emmanuel 'Manny' Balestrero (1909-1998) and they had two sons includcing Gregory Balestrero born in 1947.
Rose's husband Manny Balestrero was the subject of "The Wrong Man", a 1956 film directed by Alfred Hitchcock starring Henry Fonda and Vera Miles, which tells the story of an innocent man charged with a crime. In 1953 Manny went to borrow money from Rose's life insurance plan when employees at the insurance office identified him as the man who robbed the office during the previous year.
Rose blamed herself for Manny's arrest since he went to get the money for some dental work she needed done. She suffered a nervous breakdown as a result, and a mother of two young sons, she was institutionalized until September 1955.
Rosa (Giolito) Balestrero died on December 20th 1982 and is buried in Duval Florida.
Peter Balestrero of Europe was born on September 17, 1915, and died at age 71 years old in January 1987.
