Police had pulled over the car for a traffic violation but the driver sped off and the officer pursued. He stopped the pursuit because the car was being "driven erratically" and sped up to about 100 mph. A few minutes later, the officer found the car had crashed into a house. The police later said that they believed the car had been stolen in a robbery.
