Arnold J Baumiller is my late grandpa. He died June 6th 2010, and I remember crying over his dead body, and begging him to wake up. He didn't he had been dead for days. He married Carole James, who became Carole Baumiller after they married. Getting married was very important to him. He was never rich growing up. He had many sisters, names of which I don't remember, and one younger brother with down syndrome named Leroy who died July, 20th 2012. They always had molasses cookies growing up, the cookies were also called 'poor people cookies', because they didn't have eggs, because eggs were expensive. Arnie had to drop out of school when he was in sixth grade to help out on the family farm, while his siblings stayed in school. The family farm at that point had both animals, and crops, his father helped, but Arnie was doing the majority of it. He married Carole on November 16th, 1963. Together they had three children- Scott, Mark, and Kara. They were never very rich, but they were happy. Their vacations would be a trip to Medora, North Dakota to see the musical, and then driving home late at night after the show. When they had extra money the whole family would go out to eat after church on Sunday. Arnie lived to see all of his grandchildren. Scott had three kids with Corrine named, Travis, Jared, and Cole. Mark had two kids with Lynette named Kristi, and Katie. Kara had one daughter with Corey, named Vivian. He was a happy man, he works till sun down grandma always said, because he said there was always more things to get done in the daytime. Grandma would bring out lunch pails to grandpa, and the other workers. For his birthday grandma would make his favorite cake, which she says to only have once a year because of the sweetness. He would be hard on you only because he wanted the best for you, it was tough love. I was lucky enough to know him if only for a short amount of time. I remember him hugging me goodbye when we would leave the farm, and me sitting on his lap in his chair, and him telling me that I wouldn't swallow my loose tooth in my sleep when I slept over at the farm. That's about all I remember, and that's okay because those may have been short years, but they were amazing, and I will always keep them close to my heart with him.
