Beeger Family History & Genealogy
Beeger Last Name History & Origin
AddHistory
It is said that the Beeger family started as a small clan of miners in the eastern mountains, just west of the Persian Gulf, who occassionally stole sheep, turnips and cattle from the neighboring villages for purposes of traditional family gatherings and feasts fast developing into their general practices and custom. As general practice, often to signal their arrival to the villagers below, this small clan often used to announce their battle cry, roughly translated, "I AM BEEGER!!". Upon hearing this, the villagers ran into their homes for fear of being assaulted by the Beeger mob, who often used their teeth by rabidly biting whoever they came upon, often causing bodily harm. Farmers have often tried attacking the Beeger mob with farming implements and occassionally end up with one or two dead Beegers in return for their cattle pandering ways.
Name Origin
The derivation of the family name Beeger originally originates from the words "beaver", from (genus Castor), a primarily nocturnal, large, semi-aquatic rodent; and "badger" short-legged omnivores in the weasel family, Mustelidae.
The etymology of the family name descends from the French word bêcheur (digger). It is possibly related to theRomanian viezure ("badger"), a word of uncertain etymology, believed to be inherited from Dacian/Thracian and related to theAlbanian vjedhullë ("badger", "thief") andvjeth ("to steal"), and the Slavic jazvrŭ("hedgehog"; cf. Croatian jazavac "badger"). It is probable that Beeger is either borrowed from the Old French bièvre or both came directly from the Celtic *befros. Castorsupplanted bièvre in the course of the twelfth century in France.
