One of five silhouettes found in Abigail Borton's (b. 1807) family Bible, presented to her by her father Richard Borton in 1833, shortly before his death. Abigail married Joshua Duell. Her family was Quaker, originally from New Jersey, later travelled to Ohio. The other four silhouettes may be viewed on Rootsweb, under "Borton" message boards, and doing an Abigail Borton search.

After some research I found that Maude was born January 31, 1882 in Marion, Ill. and was the daughter of Rueben Borton and Martha Simmons. Maude was married in 1901 to Oscar Henderson. The couple had a daughter, Martha Frances Henderson.
THIS IS NOT MY RELATIVE..I found this photo in an antique shop in Santa Cruz, CA.

Oscar Ingolf Borton Apr 18, 1898 - c. Feb 1975 Minneapolis, Minnesota
Oscar's parents, Nels O. Borton and Ingeborg Borton immigrated from the Trondheim area of Norway and homesteaded in Montevideo, MN. I knew two of his siblings, Agnes (b. 1906) and Clara. Agnes was a teacher in Minneapolis. She was unmarried. Clara was married to Harry Haldorson and lived in Glenwood, MN. I believe there was a third sibling. When Oscar's parents immigrated, the name was Borthen, a well known name in Norway (including former Prime Minister Per Borthen). The immigration authorities at Ellis Island simplified the bame to Borton. Oscar spent his entire career in the automobile business, retiring after his first wife, Helen (Wilkins) passed away from cancer. He later married Helen (Sclitz) and started O.I. Borton Motors, one of the earliest Volvo dealers in the USA in 1957. Oscar had no children, although Helen (who is also deceased) had two, Bardin and Renee from a previous marriage.I came as a salesman in December 1957 and Oscar persuaded me to buy the company. I became partner and General Manager in May of 1970. I changed the name to Borton Volvo, which has had two locations in Minneapolis, one in Rochester and one in Delray Beach, Florida. I believe Oscar passed away in February of 1974, although this record indicates 1975. Oscar was an old school gentleman who was widely respected and we became very good friends, despite a 46-year age difference. CORRECTION: Oscar's first wife was May. Kjell Bergh

My Borton family relatives migrated to NW Ohio-Fulton County area from Burlington County area New Jersey in the 1800's. They were plain people, the first Bortons coming to America in my line were John Borton and his wife Ann Kinton in the late 1600's settling in Evesham,Burlington County,New Jersey to escape religious persecution.There is a Friends meeting house located in Fulton County on Co. Rd. 21-N where their meetings took place here locally and a cemetery is located there as well.
