His oldest daughter was born in Chicago during the depression. When he and his wife and daughter moved to Billings, MT, he and his brother opened a millinery shop. He took the money and bought an apartment building with his business partner from the church of Christ, Merle Buck. As his wife refused to accept his gambling winnings, he invested it in blue chip stocks. He loved fishing, gardening, and hunting. He also loved pinochle. He never did learn to drive, but bought a beautiful Chrysler New Yorker for his wife to drive them everywhere. He quit smoking cold turkey. He survived three heart attacks before succumbing in his final one. Three days before he died, he stared at his wife while she cleaned the rock garden. His wife asked what he was doing. He said just getting a final memory. He was a shrewd negotiator and always made sure his grandchildren are well, as he continually added second helpings to their plate . He loved mutton, and Mizithra with browned butter over noodles. He also loved baklava and halvah.
