A photo of Ernestine Bugbee writing the last postcards: E on our last night in Scotland before flying home to RI. She was writing what would be the last postcard messages she sent to friends. The cancer picked up speed when returned making this once easy task very difficult. I was very aware that these were her last messages and was overcome by the sadness of the moment.

A photo of Ernestine Bugbee in St. Barts. We would occasionally travel to Saint Barts...a place we loved. This picture was taken at Tgsnksgiving shortly we found E had terminal cancer when we returned to Providence. It was a wonderful trip and she never was more beautiful.

A photo of Robin and Ernestine on their last European trip to Scotland shortly before E died in 2006. It was a wonderful trip although laden with emotion. It was difficult for E as she was quite sick but she threw herself into it and we had a wonderful time.(We even went Salmon fishing)!

Presidential Election 1940
The Women's Press Club put on a skit regarding the 1940 Presidential election. They wanted to instruct the potential next First Lady (and all women candidates) on how to be successful in Washington DC.
The skits "ran through different satiric phases of women in national politics and ended with the President being offered the job of President of Mars with the biggest WPA project yet - to fix up a wireless so that Mrs. Roosevelt can wire her column back to earth." (I guess they assumed that Eleanor Roosevelt would be the next - again - First Lady but all of the candidates' wives were there.)
Seen here: Mrs. Smith goes to Washington as a new senator, and learns her first lesson from the taxi driver who picks her up at Union Station. "Don't you keep a letter file - keep an incinerator, Senator." (If only Nixon had heard that . . . )

Ida is the daughter of Luther Fenner and Lucy Ida Bitgood, and the sister of Henry Eugene Fenner, who is buried in the same cemetery. She was probably born in southeastern Conn. Ida can be found on the 1860 census for Voluntown, the 1880 census for Leicester and the 1900 census for Spencer.
Ida married Charles L Bugbee, who was born in 1864. They had the following children: Mary L who was born and died in 1888, Ella M who was born in 1888 and died at the age of ten, another daughter named Ella Eveline who died at thirteen from typhoid fever in Webster, Everett who lived from 1890 to 1914, and Ralph who lived from 1892 to 1975. The date and place of Ida's death is unknown but probably occured after 1935 because her granddaughter remembers her.

Everett Bugbee
EEverett was the son of Charles and Lucy Ida Fenner Bugbee. He was disabled at some point in his life and lived to the age of twenty-four. He appears on the 1900 census for Spencer and the 1910 census for Lancaster, MA. In 1910 he is listed as being at home, rather than as a worker.
Charles Bugbee
Charles L Bugbee was born on Oct 1864, the son of Osgood Judson Bugbee and Mary W Tucker Bugbee. His siblings were Elenor Eveline Bugbee and Clarence Bugbee. Charles married Ida Fenner and their children were Mary (1888-1888), Ella (1888-1896), Everett (1890-1914)and Ralph (1892-1975). So far as we know, Ralph is the only one of Charles and Ida's children who had children.

The young man in the wheelchair is Everett Bugbee. This photo comes from Jennie's collection, later handed down to her grandson, Jim McGinnis.
