Two Injured Jumping Out - HEALESVILLE, Monday-One man was killed and two of three other
occupants of a motor-car were injured when it became uncontrollable while descending the Blacks' Spur, eight miles from Healesville at 1.30 a.m. yesterday. The driver of the car, Horace Clement Clowes, of St Georges road, Fitzroy, was the only occupant who escaped injury. The victims are -
Dead - LEE, EDWARD, aged about 45 years, of Coppin street, Richmond, timber worker,
Injured - MARTIN, WILLIAM aged 37 years, of Princess street Fitzroy, lacerations and shock
NAUGHTIN, JAMES, aged 45 scars of Beaconsfield parade, Croxton, lacerations and shock.
The car was travelling from Alexandra to Healesville, and, when nearly at the foot of the Spur, gained speed and could not be stopped. The driver swung the car sharply to the left into Morley's Track. A deep gutter across the entrance to the track and the speed it was travelling caused the car to crush into a tree. Martin and Naughtin who were riding in the back seat of the car, jumped out just before it struck a tree. They fell heavily. Lee was in the front seat with Clowes. The car struck the tree on Lee's side and he was killed instantly. It is believed that a defect in the back axle was the cause of the accident. Martin and Naughtin were treated at the Healesville Hospital and allowed to go home.”

Addressed as Dr Cloves, he managed to treat countless patients before federal law forced him to curtail his medical practice.
Marion worked closely with Dr. Will Roper, Minnie Roper, Dr. Watson, Wayne "Gatelatch" Culver, and Miss Poindexter, as well as others.
He also maintained fine pastures for his cattle and took care in his personal affairs. He was always the soft spoken gentleman.
