Daylong Family History & Genealogy
Daylong Last Name History & Origin
AddHistory
The story passed down to me was that Albert Dagen or possibly Daglunge was an expert ship builder in Denmark who revolted against the use of his ships to carry slaves for the East India Trading Co. by setting fire to some ships one night. As he had been quite vocal about his fury about the uses of these ships he fled to the America's and upon arrival changed his name to it's English translation Albert Daylong. It's always been said in my family that we still honor our 1st American forefather's name, which is why so many Daylongs are named Albert.
Name Origin
From the Danish dagen, meaning day long.
