My dempsters started like this--
On the ship list of the Barque Hebron that came to the port of Phil on July 6th , 1847 On the ship list the name is Demster , but later Dempster. We are not sure if the ship spelled the last name wrong because some of the children use the last name of Dempster laster in life.
Others used the last name Demster .
Anyway, this is the names of my great great great grandparents and siblings that are listed on this ship list.
PARENTS-- Alexander Demster b. abt. 1790 Ireland d. abt. 1850
on the ship list he is 57 farmer
Elizabeth Demster b. abt. 1791 Ireland d. June 26, 1847 aboard the Barque Hebron out of Belfast , Ireland
NEXT THE CHILDREN
Mary Ann Demster born abt. 1825 Ireland listed on the ship list as 24yrs old
died 1878 in Iowa

Elizabeth Demster b. abt, 1828 in County Down , Ireland listed as 22 years old

James Alexander Demster b. abt. 1834 in County Down, Ireland listed as 19 yrs old died 1904

Martha Blakeley Demster b. abt. 1835 in County Down , Ireland listed as 13 she died 1914

Joseph Demster b. abt. 1836 in County Down, Ireland listed as 11 years old died 1908 New Jersey

The father Alexander Demster died around 1850 and the children were orpaned and taken in by various families in the Penn. and New Jersey area.
My great great grandmother , Mary A Demster married a Joseph Hughes and they had 2 boys in Penn. Alexander born1850 or early 1851in Penn. and second boy Henry born in Penn. 1853 . Then on to Ohio where a girl born in 1855 named Isabella . Then the rest of the children born in Iowa . In 1870 , they had a farm and in 1878 Mary Ann demster Hughes died and buried in the Victor cemetery in Victor, Iowa.
If anyone still living can connect with this family ; please email me because I am at a brick wall and I would like to see pictures of the family if anyone out there has them.
I would also like to know more about these people and their lives.
