Anthony Joseph Desiato was born on January 22, 1917 in Melfi, Portenza, Italy to parents Guglielmo Desiato (1882-1970) and Teresina Murano (1884-1923). He had siblings Gene G. Desiato (1913-1993), Joseph C Desiato (1914-1984), Salvatore Desiato (1915-1974), and Jennie Rita Desiato Ciulla (1922-1991).

Anthony retired from Prudential Insurance Company in 1974 as a salesman after twenty-two years of employment.
