Does anyone know if Barbara Ellen Dishong (1832-1913), daughter of Henry D Dishong (1802-?) and Margaret (possibly Rush) (1805-1884), of Bedford/Fulton County Pennsylvania, was first married to a Williams, possibly Samuel/Henry Williams? Barbara Dishong's two oldest children were Margaret Ellen Williams (born Mar 1852-died 1928) and John Henry Williams (born Mar 1854 and died 1938). She later married Patrick Wilson and they had 5 sons before he left the area. And finally Barbara Dishong married widower Samuel Hess, who also preceded her in death. Barbara Ellen Dishong died at the home of her only daughter, Margaret Ellen Williams Beaston, in Mount Union, Huntingdon County, PA 25 Nov 1913. Thank you!

I've seen possible ancestors of the Dishong/Deshong family as "Von Dijon" and "De Dijon", both refer to a family "from" Dijon (a city in France). Von is German in origin and De is French. I've also seen some propose that the surname originated from Deschamps, which translates to "of the field". In any case, surnames were both passed down from generation to generation and sometimes changed due to lack of education and language barriers.
