Dschietzig Last Name History & Origin
AddHistory
There were two migration-waves of Džićiks into germany. The first wave came in the late 1890's. They migrated to germany, "germanized" the last name and settled down in (todays) eastern and northern germany. Since then, they are called Dschietzig. Some of them moved to england in the year 1905, the rest of them did flee to england when the nazis came to power in 1933.
The second migration-wave came after the second world war.
In the second world war, german soldiers allegedly raped gypsy-women in albania while they (the soldiers) were on their way to invade greece. The gypsy-women did belong to the family of Džićik. In 1964, the federal republic of germany granted them and their children amnesty in germany. Most of them settled down in eastern germany, but some of them continued their travel to england again.
