SAD FATALITY IN MORANG.
BOY DRAGGED TO DEATH.
John Henry Egan, aged 13, whose home is
in Bundoora, was killed as the result of
being thrown by a horse he was riding
on Sunday afternoon.
The boy was the only child of his widowed
and invalid mother. He had been staying with
his uncle Mr. A. E. Males, in Preston for some
time, and had gone to spend the week-end
at home with his mother. A companion had
asked him to go with him for a ride on his pony,
and the two boys were riding down Bolands
lane, through Ryan's cutting.

- BOY KILLED.
John Egan, 13, of Mernda, sustained a
fractured skull today when thrown and
dragged by a bolting horse on the Morang
Tanks road, near his home. He was hurried
to Dr. Day's surgery at Mernda, where he
died an hour later without regaining consciousness .
The body was conveyed to the City Morgue, and
the Whittlesea police are making investigations.
