My 5th great grandfather was John Grigsby (there were a number of Grigsby's named John) who died in Fauquier Co. Va. in 1788. Three of his children married children of Daniel Rout Floweree, Sr. Lewis Grigsby b. abt. 1766 in Fauquier Co. Va. and died abt. 1836 in Winchester, Clark, KY married Charlotte Floweree. Edith (Eadey) Grigsby b. abt. 1767 Fauquier married John Floweree who had only one son that I can verify, named Daniel Rout Floweree III. Nathaniel Grigsby b. abt. 1776 in Fauquier Co. and died there abt. 1846, married Mary (Polly) Flloweree. The names for all of John Grigsby's children and the names of the Floweree siblings who married into Grigsby's family were found in John Grigsby's will dated 1787-88. Lewis Grigsby who married Charlotte Floweree removed to KY as previously implied where several generations of their descendants continued to live. Daniel Rout Floweree III, son of John Floweree and Eadey Grigsby married Nancy Rector of Fauquier Co. John Floweree left Fauquier at an elderly age for MO where he undoubtedly joined most of his children who had moved to Jackson, MO

Although, the Flowerees appear to have lived early on in Va., they also appeared to have a MD connection via the Hanson and Contee families of Kent Co. MD. Obviously, Kent Co. MD was for all practical purposes, just across the Potomac from Virginia and it wasn't unusual that the families of eastern shore MD and eastern shore Va. have marriage and business relationships.

My question is: Were there Floweree's that lived in MD during the very early 18th century? It might provide a clue to some of the research I am doing. For both my maternal and paternal sides of the family, we were early arrivals to Va. who later came to Loudoun, Clarke and Fauquier Co.s in the mid 18th century. I still live in Clarke Co. Va. which is adjacent to Fauquier and Loudoun Co.'s .
