I've been led to understand that all people with the last name of Frisselle are related, regardless of the spelling. I do not know the origin of the name.

Nationality & Ethnicity

Our branch of the Frisselles are descended from French Huguenots who fled France due to religious persecution and settled in Scotland many years before the French Revolution. There, they were either absorbed into, or were among the founders of, the Frasier Clan. Our branch of the family came to the "new world" around the same time as the Revere family (as in Paul Revere), and it's rumored that we are related, but I have nothing to verify that.

Famous People named Frisselle

Frank A. Frisselle, Sr., was a well-known drummer during the early swing era, best known in New York and New England. He's best remembered for his time with Mal Hallet, Paul Whiteman, and Rudy Vallee. Legendary drummer, Gene Kruppa, once noted that Frank Frisselle was the best drummer in the US at that time, possibly the world. His son, Frank, Jr., was also well known as a musician in the Boston area, playing upright bass and bass guitar actively until about six months before his death in April, 2014.
William Orville "Lefty" Frizzell (March 31, 1928 – July 19, 1975) was an American country music singer and songwriter of the 1950s, and a proponent of honky tonk music. His relaxed style of singing was an influence on later stars Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Roy Orbison, George Jones and John Fogerty. He is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame. His brother, David, is also a well-known and well-respected country artist.
Brad Frisselle began his racing career in 1970, in SCCA racing. His sons, Brian and Burt, have followed in his footsteps and today they are a force to be reckoned with in the world of sports car racing.
