it originally was in Bohemia which a couple of hundred years later became part of Poland. It was originally a Jewish family name. there are dozen's of variations of the spellings because as they moved around to Swiss origins and Austrian and German, they altered the spellings. But originally it was Bohemian and Bohemia doesn't exist anymore. it became part of Poland that part.

one site said the original meaning was goat herder but history said that the first family were of noble people.
