Goolishian Family History & Genealogy
Goolishian Last Name History & Origin
AddSummary
Goolishian is an Armenian name given to our family on my father's side in Armenian by the Turkish government after they had conquered Armenia in the early 1900s.
History
I'm only aware of the history from after my father's family had been established in the Boston are. I'm told my grandfather showed away on a tramp streamer as a very young man to escape the genocide being perpetrated on the Armenian people by the Turks. He is the only known survivor of the original family. He married and had 4 sons namely William, Harold, Gregory & Kenneth. He then left his wife and kids and moved West but I have no knowledge of that era.
Name Origin
I'm told the name means something like babbling brook but I'll have to dig up a document my mother gave me with a better explanation.
Spellings & Pronunciations
The only alternate spelling I found was in a soups document starting the name Galician.
