Sono, Hlungwani, Hlongwane, Hlungwana and Hlongwani are one and same family, these people are Tshwa people originally from Central Africa Bantu ethnic group, Most of these people are now scattered all over southern africa namely Mozambique,Zimbabwe,Botswana, and South Africa. they now speak the language of the place where they are either zulu, swati, tswana, Tsonga and Sotho. Tsonga is a mixture of Rhonga, Tshwa and Thonga, these people spread all over because of wars, their original surname was Sono which was later changed to Hlungwani because of names of people and other tribes being assimilated to other tribes but clan name and family tree is the same. some goes as follows: Wa Tirhani, Wa Mafemani, Wa Dlamani, Wa Muvhulu, Wa Gole,Wa Mayimisi, Wa Xipuku, Wa Maledza, Wa Zinjhiva, Wa Rikokodze, Wa Tobyayini. Hi va ndzilo, first people to make fire, va nwa masungula ku fuma, first people to have King or to rule. we still have the Hlungwani or Sono in the Hlengwe land in Mozambique where our forefather settled when they arrive from Central Africa.

Hi I am a Zinjivha, my great grandfather was Ndaba - my family settled in Limpopo close to the Elim area. I like the different clan names provided - some of them I did not know were related to the Hlungwani surname. Thank you
