Kallarakal John Thomas from Mavelikara, Kerala, India (K. J. Thomas) popularly known as “Village Raj” was a Businessman, PWD Contractor, a Private Contractor,and the initiator of a small savings scheme called VILLAGE RAJ which later transformed in to the “ National Reserve Bank of India” with branches in Mavelikara, Adoor, Kayamkulam and Tamil Nadu (formerly known as Madras)
The National Reserve Bank of India played a vital role in the financial sector of India especially in the Kerala sector during the pre-Independence era. The National Reserve Bank of India was forced to close its business due to political reasons along with other major banks like Palai Central Bank.
John Yohannan was the father of K. J. Thomas and his mother Achyamma was the sister of Eapechen Judge of Panachammoottil house, Karthikapally.
Kuttyamma Kallarakal, wife of K. J. Thomas Kallarakal is from Kottayam Thyparampil family. They have Seven children , four boys and Three girls.
