I am a second generation Lauborough.

History

The story I was told about our last name was that my grandfather made it up. He was born Ollie Yarborough in Georgia, USA, I believe. I was told by my father, Robert Lee Lauborough, that his dad left home at the age of 14, and joined the Navy. lying about his age. After awhile he decided he didn't like the Navy, and deserted. So he wouldn't get caught as a deserter, he changed his name from Yarborough to Lauborough. He married my grandmother, Mabel Didama Foote, and they had 6 children in California - Gertrude, Robert, Stanley, Donald, Richard, and Arthur. During the Great Depression Ollie abandoned the family. After hiding out for years, he found out that his parents got him legally out of the Navy for being under age. Since he didn't have to hide out anymore, he took back his birth name of Yarborough, and left behind a family of Lauborough's. All Lauborough's to my knowledge are directly related from that family.
